💼 My job and where I'm based
I am a Software Engineer at Shares, mainly focusing on backend development. I am originally from Spain, but I’m currently based in North London.
😊 What I enjoy about the role
My favourite thing about my role is being able to work with some amazingly talented people.
At shares, we hold regular meetings where we have the chance to share new ideas and discuss new technologies. I love that every new task is a challenge, giving you the opportunity to solve it in many ways, being as creative as you want.
Another great perk of my role is being able to work remotely and be able to visit friends and family without worrying about running out of holidays.
🗓 What I'm currently working on
I am currently working on new social features within the app, especially around the new communities that we have just released (check them out our communities here). I also work on improving our internal support platform.
💪 Strengths needed for my role
Some coding skills, of course!
🕺 What I like to do after work and at the weekends
As a classic software developer, my favourite pastime has to be playing video games.
I mostly play single player games on my shiny new PS5, right now I’m on Horizon Forbidden West.
I also love travelling; whether it’s just a short holiday or the next place I call home. I’ve lived in Spain, Poland, California and currently in England.
Like many others, I got into the world of chess when Covid restrictions started being implemented. I like playing online as well as over the board and I regularly join several meetups in London to play with strangers. Unfortunately, my skills don’t reflect the amount of time I’ve sunk into it.
